The oven dish is thrown on the wheel and a ripple put into the sides. It is made of dark stoneware clay from Cornwall. The clay has bits of ore in it that burst through the glaze as spots and speckles. The rim is accentuated with iron oxide that bleads into the glaze. The glaze is an ancient Jun glaze and works together with the clay to enhance its colour.
